(Friday, September 8, 2023)
Government Employees' Retirement System (GERS) Administrator Nominee, Angel Dawson, reminds all retirees with accounts previously held at Scotia Bank who have not yet submitted an updated direct deposit form with their Oriental Bank information that they must do so as soon as possible for direct deposit of their retirement annuity to resume.
Until then, affected retirees will continue to receive their annuity payment in the form of a check mailed via the U.S. Postal Service by the fifteenth and last day of every month. GERS Administrator Nominee Dawson stressed that “this is a regulatory requirement of our banking partners and not optional for the GERS”.
Considering mail delivery time, Dawson urged all affected retirees to submit their direct deposit form so that they may, once again, enjoy the timeliness, convenience and security associated with direct deposits to their bank account. “Maintaining up-to-date contact information is crucial for all members and retirees. We, therefore, urge everyone to verify the accuracy of their mailing address, email address, and telephone number on file with GERS. For further information or assistance, please reach out to our dedicated Customer Care team at 340-693-3939”, he continued.
GERS Administrator Nominee Dawson concluded by emphasizing that the GERS remains committed to serving its members and looks forward to assisting with a seamless transition back to direct deposit for affected retirees.
