INSURANCE BENEFITS

Retirees may continue with their Group Health Insurance Coverage. You are required to visit the Health Insurance Office within 30 days of your retirement to complete a new enrollment form. The non-contributory basic life insurance is reduced from $10,000 to $5000 and you may maintain your supplemental coverage up to a maximum of $75,000. There are no changes in the health benefits.

During the period that you are awaiting your first annuity check you are required to make direct payments to the Group Health Insurance office to maintain your insurance coverage.

Note: Medicare becomes your primary insurance once you are retired and have attained age 65. Your government sponsored group health insurance plan, then becomes your secondry insurance.

For more information call the Group Health Insurance office at (340) 714-5000 or (340) 774-8588.
