Announces Evelyn Venner-Potter as the Chief Operating Officer

The GERS Board has approved Austin L. Nibbs recommendation to reorganize the organizational structure to name Mrs. Evelyn Venner-Potter, former Assistant Administrator, to the new position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the GERS effective Sunday, October 1, 2011.

Austin L. Nibbs, CPA Administrator of the Government Employees' Retirement System (GERS) is pleased to announce that the Board has approved his recommendation to reorganize the organizational structure to name Mrs. Evelyn Venner-Potter, former Assistant Administrator, to the new position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the GERS effective Sunday, October 1, 2011. In her capacity as COO, she will be responsible for the supervision, strategic planning, budgeting and reporting for facility management and operations to include the parking lot, records management and information technology.

Mrs. Potter has been employed with the GERS since August 1991 and has held the positions of Assistant Administrator-Facility Management/Operations Assistant Administrator-Administration and Director of Insurance and Delinquent Accounts. She has also served as the Business Line Leader in the Phase II of the GERS Business Practice/Technology Upgrade Project, also known as the V3 Project.

Prior to her employment with the GERS, she was employed with Bank of America as an Authorized Officer of Letters of Credit - International Department, Virgin Islands Telephone Company as a Budget Analyst and First Virgin Islands Bank as Assistant Vice President-Operations and Personnel.

Mrs. Potter earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Management from the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) and has earned graduate credits towards a masters’ degree from UVI and the University of Arizona at Tempe. She has earned numerous certificates from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.
