A regular employee may apply for early retirement from the Government of the Virgin Islands when he or she has attained age 50 with at least 10 but less than 30 years of service. If the member does not have 30 years of service and is less than age 60, there is a 3.9% reduction for each year the member is less than age 60.
Early retirement benefits are calculated at the following rates:
- Tier 1: Years of service are calculated at 2.5%
- Tier II: Years of service are calculated at 1.75%
