TIER I

Judges may receive a retirement annuity if they have attained age 50 and have completed at least one judicial term (6 years).

The Service annuity for Judges appointed prior to 1/21/2015, is calculated as follows:

  • 1 Term (6 years) - 30% of compensation
  • 2 Terms (12 years) - 60% of compensation
  • 3 Terms (18 years) - 90% of compensation
  • Over 20 years in office - 100% of compensation

Note:  The annuity rate of member of the Judiciary appointed after 1/21/2015 shall be set at 3.5% of compensation per year after 1 term.

Incremental Increase

Retiree benefits are increased by a percentage rate determined yearly by the Board of Trustees upon attaining age 60 and upon completing one year on the retiree payroll.
