GERS Announces Upcoming Election of Retirees to the Board of Trustees

GERS to conduct November elections for retirees to serve on its Board of Trustees.

GERS Administrator, Austin L. Nibbs, wishes to advise retirees that in accordance with Act 6794 widely known as the Reform Act of 2005, GERS will be conducting elections for one (1) retiree from each district to serve on its Board of Trustees.

Eligibility requirements state that only retirees of the Government who are members of the System are eligible to vote and seek election to the Board.

Each candidate shall have at least five years experience and at least a Bachelor's degree in any of the following: Investment Banking; Economics; Finance; Insurance; Law; Medicine; Accounting; Actuarial Science; Taxation; Real Estate Appraisal or Brokerage and Securities Trading.

Petition packages will be available at the GERS Offices on St. Thomas and St. Croix and at the St. John Administrator's Office at The Battery on St. John beginning August 3, 2015 and are due back on September 4, 2015. Election will be held during the month of November.
