GERS ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCES A SPECIAL RETIREE ELECTION TO FILL VACANCY ON THE GERS BOARD

GERS will be conducting a special election for one St. Croix retiree to serve on its board.
GERS Administrator/CEO Austin l. Nibbs wishes to advise retirees in the St. Croix district that in accordance with Act 6794, widely known as the reform act of 2005, GERS will be conducting a special election for one retiree to serve on its board. The election, scheduled to take place during the period April 19 through May 21, 2017, is to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of the retiree trustee in the St. Croix district.
Eligibility requirements state that only retirees of the government who are members of the system are eligible to vote and seek election to the board. As such, only retirees and disability annuitants who are currently on the payroll as of February 28, 2017, will be eligible to participate in the election.
Each candidate shall have at least a Bachelor’s degree and five years experience in any of the following: investment banking; economics; finance; insurance; law; medicine; accounting; actuarial science, taxation; real estate appraisal or brokerage and securities trading.
Petition packages will be available at the GERS office on St. Croix beginning March 6, 2017 and are due back on March 30.
