Purchasing Additional Service Credit

Contributions may not be made prior to the service being performed.  In accordance with Title 3, Chapter 27, Section 704, subsection (t) of the Virgin Islands Code, payment of the required employee retirement contributions for other than current service may be made in a lump sum or on an installment basis.    Contributions for the purchase of additional service may not be made prior to the accrual of five (5) years of credited service. If a member elects to repay on an installment basis, the member shall have the maximum of three (3) years to repay the full amount owed.
